SIXTH FORM, FURTHER EDUCATION AND TUTORIAL COLLEGES

These colleges are recommended for those students from overseas who are at least 16 years of age on 31 August, prior to the course commencing in September.

The age range is 16-22 years, no uniform is required and accommodation is arranged within the college itself or with local English families. Courses are suitable for students with a good sense of motivation and self discipline, as a proportion of the work is on a self-access basis, using the facilities of the Colleges' Learning Resource Centres, libraries, computer facilities.

During their further education, students can follow different pathways: academic, vocational and professional. The most commonly offered courses are: GCSE, A-level, Access/Foundation, National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ), BTEC/EDEXCEL National Diplomas, General National Vocational Qualifications (GNVQ).

Possibilities include - Business Studies, E-commerce, Radio Broadcasting, Catering, Engineering, Travel & Tourism, Hotel Management, Computer Systems Administration, Internet Design and Technology, Health & Beauty, Hairdressing and more.

In larger colleges, English courses for international students are available independently, before or as part of academic/vocational programmes.

Special 1 year courses are offered for those who wish to spend one year improving their English and absorbing English culture before commencing tertiary education in the country.
